Canine Corral, Englewood, Colorado

The City of Englewood Parks and Recreation Department, Englewood Unleashed, and local businesses have partnered with EnviroWagg, LLC to do an eco-friendly make-over for Canine Corral, a fenced off-leash dog park at 4848 S. Windermere Street. Englewood is home to 6,000+ dogs that contribute tons of dog waste to landfills. This recycling program is diverting approximately 10 tons of this waste per year and processing it into DOGGONE GOOD COMPOST®.

Parks and Recreation have provided separate bins at the park so that dog owners can dispose of dog waste and trash in separate receptacles. Plastic pick-up bags have been replaced with oxo-biodegradable bags that are more compable with composting. Additional stations with oxo-biodegradable bags have been installed at Centennial and Jason parks. The composting program itself will initially be limited to Canine Corral (see details).

This program is made possible through the generosity of local businesses that have "adopted" dog waste bag stations at the three parks. Signs recognizing their contributions have been posted on the dispensers. Special thanks to Pet Scoop for collecting the Canine Corral dog waste so that it can be transported to the composting site!
